Toshihiro Wakui is a blacksmith from Sanjo, Niigata. He began his craft at the age of 16, working in his family’s crowbar-making business. As the demand for crowbars declined, he decided to pursue traditional blacksmithing and joined the Sanjo blacksmith group, training under Kazuomi Yamamoto of Yoshikane. After four years of dedicated apprenticeship, he honed his skills and set out on his own as an independent blacksmith.
