Known for his exceptional kitchen knife performance, Shigeki Tanaka embodies skill and innovation as a young craftsman whose designs are revered worldwide. He comes from a lineage of blacksmiths, tracing back to his great-grandfather, Mr. Gentaro, who pioneered sickle crafting during the Meiji Period. While his forebears specialized in traditional sickles, Tanaka's journey in knife-making began in Echizen in Fukui Prefecture, where he underwent rigorous training. After three years of apprenticeship, he joined his family's factory in Miki City.

Since then, Tanaka has built a reputation for crafting both double-edged and single-edged knives, earning global acclaim and high demand. Tanaka prides himself on utilizing traditional methods and innovative designs. He favors minimal machinery in production, opting for small runs of knives at a time to maintain craftsmanship standards and deliver impecable quality to his clientele.
