JNAT stands for Japanese Natural Sharpening Stones. These stones are mined from various regions in Japan, each with its unique geological characteristics, making JNATs highly prized for their ability to produce exceptional edges on knives, razors, and tools.
Recommended care
Natural whetstones should not be soaked, as water penetration can cause cracks. To protect the stone, coat its sides with lacquer or epoxy. After use, rinse the stone under running water, wipe it dry, and wrap it in a dry cloth. Store it in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. Handle the stone carefully to avoid chipping or cracking.
Our natural stones come with a complimentary coating. Please allow us 5 days from purchase to apply and fully dry the three layers of coating.
