Masakage knives are renowned among Japanese cutlery enthusiasts for their exceptional craftsmanship and unique design. Handcrafted in Takefu Knife Village, each knife features premium materials like Blue Super or VG10 steel cores, enhancing sharpness and durability. Since 2007, Masakage has focused on delivering Japan’s finest handmade knives, crafted by master blacksmiths and hand-sharpened by Takayuki Shibata, a renown Japanese sharpener.
A standout model, the Masakage Koishi by Yoshimi Kato, combines a Blue Super core with stainless cladding for excellent edge retention. Koishi, which means 'pebbles' in Japanese, refers to the hammered and black finish that mimics the appearance of river pebbles.

As a chef I love my knives and want high quality ones, the Masakage I bought is so far incredible and an amazing addition to my collection of knives. I went in to drop off my Nakiri to have the blade sharpened and the handle fixed and ended leaving nearly 2 hours later after having amazing conversations with the owner and an employee. Amazing people and service, and will now be my go to store.
