Located in Goto City, Nagasaki Prefecture, "Miyazaki Kajiya" specializes in handcrafted knives amidst the city's lush natural surroundings. The craftsman behind these exquisite creations is Haruo Miyazaki, hailing from the esteemed Oba blacksmith lineage in Fukuoka Prefecture, spanning three generations. Under the mentorship of Toshio Oba, a revered master known for crafting the traditional "Hakata Ippon Hocho", Miyazaki refined his skills over a five-year apprenticeship. His knives embody the essence of rustic craftsmanship, exemplified by the Tsubaki knife's unique shape reminiscent of the Hakata knife.
This Damascus knife was entirely handcrafted by Haruo Miyazaki, with every step — including the layering of the steel — meticulously done by hand. Miyazaki-san’s dedication to traditional craftsmanship truly sets him apart as a unique blacksmith.

This knife is absolutely beautiful — a stunning piece in my small collection. I've already used it, so it's begun to develop a bit of patina. I hesitated to use it at first because I found it so beautiful, but I always buy knives with the intention of using them. I just hope it keeps its “wow” factor as the patina develops.
I also want to mention the packaging — truly awesome! I’ve never received a knife so well packaged.
Thank you, JKS, for the opportunity to purchase it. I still find it hard to believe I was able to buy this knife several days after it went online. It’s almost unbelievable that no one grabbed it sooner!
