Mizuno Tanrenjo's heritage spans five generations of master craftsmen, beginning with Torakichi Mizuno's establishment in 1872 in Sakai City, Osaka. Renowned for crafting the traditional Japanese knives known as 'Sakai Uchi', the Mizuno family has earned a distinguished reputation as one of Japan's foremost artisan families.

The legacy of their craftsmanship extends beyond mere blades; Masanori Mizuno's Mayokegama, a sickle symbolizing protection against evil, graces the roof of Nara's Houryuji temple, a National Treasure and UNESCO World Heritage site. This enduring symbol reflects the family's deep cultural roots and craftsmanship excellence.

Mizuno Tanrenjo's workshop has enjoyed the patronage of Japan's Royal family for generations, a testament to the quality and prestige of their work. Under the leadership of fifth-generation blacksmith Jun Mizuno, supported by his wife Nanako managing the business affairs, the workshop continues to thrive.

Jun Mizuno's skill has garnered recognition from prestigious shrines, with his katanas earning a place in their permanent collections. This acknowledgment further underscores the family's commitment to preserving the tradition of Japanese blade craftsmanship, ensuring its continuation for generations to come.
